Natural silk dental surgical suture is a non-absorbable, permanent tissue support, natural suture type consisting of an organic polymer called fibroin, sterilized with EO (ethylene oxide) and has low strength loss. It is produced from Bombisis mori (B.mori) which is the domesticated form of Bombisid family. Natural silk suture is dyed to blue or black with methylene blue and coated with wax or silicon. The natural silk suture can be found in its natural colour (ivory) but black silk suture is often preferred by dentists in oral, dental and maxillofacial surgeries.

Natural silk dental surgical sutures are commonly used for extracting the wisdom teeth in oral, dental and maxillofacial surgeries, after removing the inflamed root at the dental root bone with apical resection, removing the gum with gingivectomy, graft applications with bone powder, jaw tip cosmetic operations called genioplasty and removing the lip-tongue connection with frenectomy to connect the tissues.

These surgical sutures from natural silk are compliant with American Pharmacopeia non-absorbable surgical sutures monograph and European Pharmacopeia sterile coated and naturally braided silk suture monograph conditions. The product is packed in aluminium packages with our without needle.
