Description
Description
Natural silk dental suture is a non-absorbable sterile surgical suture consisting of an organic polymer called fibroin. Natural silk sutures also known as the silk sutures are produced from bombisis mori species domesticated from protein bombisida family. The silk surgical suture has a multi-filament structure. This means the sutures are braided. The sutures are dyed in black and coated with silicone to facilitate visibility and applying on the tissue during a surgical intervention by the dentist. The black dye is Hematein HCK (C. I.-color index no. 75290).
The surgical silk sutures comply with non-absorbable surgical suture monography terms of the US Pharmacopeia and sterile braided silk suture monography terms of the European Pharmacopeia.
