Polyglycolide-co-caprolactone (PGCL) Dental Sutures
Polyglycolide-co-caprolactone (PGCL) sutures that can be absorbed fast in oral, dental and maxillofacial surgery are commonly preferred by dentists in various oral surgeries.
Monokaprol sutures have Poly (glycolid (75%)-co-caprolactam (25%)) PGCL chemical structure and these are synthetic sutures absorbable in a short time. Monokaprol dental sutures tensile strength is between 45-70% for the first week and 20% for the second week. American pharmacopoeia (USP) sizes range from USP 6/0 to USP 2, European pharmacopoeia (EP) sizes 0.7 to 5 for Monokaprolen sutures and these are produced in various sizs from 45cm to 150cm and with stainless steel needle or without a needle. These sutures sterilized with EO (Ethylene Oxide) are packed in aluminium packages with our without needle.
PGCL sutures used in oral, dental and maxillofacial surgery by the dentists are preferred for closing the wound after impacted tooth extraction, flap operations for gum surgery, frenelum tissue removal, mucogingival procedures to correct the gum-mucosa relationship, removing the tooth or gum that cannot be treated (apical resection) and greft operations to fill the missing bone before the implant operations.
These sutures ensure high node safety due to usage properties and flexibility. Due to strong tensile strength, uncoated and smooth surface, these sutures decrease the infection risk of tissue with the surgical interventions in the oral region.
Absorbable surgical suture (PGCL) Monokaprol is preferred as colourless by the dentists in oral surgery. Other than that, the violet version is preferred to facilitate the surgical operation and when the suture must be visible on the tissues.
